Peony Literary Agency is one of the most prolific multi-lingual literary agencies in Asia. A small but ambitious and client-centred business, we represent writers worldwide with particular focus on China. We represent writers of Fiction, Non Fiction and Graphic Novels but not Childrens Books. We sell UK and US rights and work with established sub agents to sell into some foreign markets.

Peony's work in China includes representing leading and new authors and specialising in selling their works in China and globally. We also represents publishers and agents worldwide and sell Chinese rights for the lists of titles they publish.




Marysia Juszczakiewicz

Marysia Juszczakiewicz is the founder and owner of Peony Literary Agency. Marysia has extensive experience of publishing in both the UK and Asia. She has successfully sold international rights for Peony clients'. Peony was the first agent to represent the recent Nobel Prize winner Mo Yan and sold English language rights for his novel Sandalwood Murders.

Tina Chou

Tina is Peony's representative in Shanghai. She previously worked as an editor at Eurasian Publishing Group in Taiwan, before moving to Beijing and Shanghai to become a literary talent scout and agent. She has brought in numerous titles into China and Taiwan, including a high figure ten-book deal sale to China Population Press.



Julia Chen

Julia Chen has extensive knowledge in the Taiwanese and Chinese publishing industry. Having worked in Rights in China Times Publishing Company and Business Weekly Publication, Taiwan, and as a Chief Editor and Foreign Literary Director for Pheonix-Edita Media and Horizon Media, China, she is also a Japanese translator, and has translated two titles by the Nobel Prize winner Kenzaburō Ōe’s. She now works with Peony Literary Agency as a literary agent both selling rights into China and Taiwan, as well as scouting for Japanese and Chinese literature.
