Dean Nelson

Dean Nelson is the London Daily Telegraph's South Asia Editor and has lived in New Delhi with his wife and three children since 2005.

Before becoming a foreign correspondent he spent most of his career as an investigative journalist. His work on sexual abuse in children's homes led to a government tribunal of inquiry and a major overhaul of the British care system, and he won Scoop of the Year for his Observer team investigation into lobbying in the new Scottish Parliament. He was editor of the Sunday Times Insight investigations team before becoming the paper's South Asia correspondent. Dean is currently writing a book exploring the Indian phenomenon of Jugaad - a mindset which describes the best and worst of India from wonderful Heath Robinson innovations and dynamic business leaders to systemic corruption, bad governance and a toxic environment.
