Recognised as one of the foremost exponents of the Chinese literary form of wuxia - literal meaning "martial hero" - Wang Dulu is best known in the West as the author of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Ang Lee's 1999 film version became the highest-grossing foreign language production of all time, and won four Academy Awards. Harvey Weinstein released the sequel Sword of Destiny

Peony Literary Agency is proud to represent the back catalogue of Wang's work. Wuxia is a quintessentially Chinese blend of fearsome combat, high romance and bravery against all odds. Its heroes are terrifyingly skilled martial artists and the tenderest of lovers. Often poor and without influence in the world, they tackle the most powerful and apparently invincible of opponents - occasionally succeeding, often failing with great pathos and honour. The genre of wuxia has influenced many of the most influential of writers in China today, and many others admit to loving its blend of violence, sweetness and escapism. Wang  was a master of the genre, and his works will be enjoyed by anyone with a taste for the ultimate action story.
